created by Kristi N. Garrett, Ph.D.
This site is a compilation of my current instructional design efforts and instructional artifacts completed as curriculum requirements for the Instructional Leadership with concentration in Instructional Technology Ph.D. program at The University of Alabama. This site spotlights the instructional pathway that I travel as a researcher, instructional design director, and instructor in order to promote higher order thinking among learners through the use of technology. Based on my personal and professional experiences, I used Dewey’s reflective process as stated in Cheesebro, O’Connor, and Rios (2007) then intertwining with Hirumi’s (2002) instructional strategies to develop the four steps below for transforming information into knowledge.
I have organized this site based on scholarly work, publication highlights, along with training and teaching artifacts. In addition, I have included my philosophy of instructional technology and vitae for a more in depth perspective of both my educational and professional career.
